Mongol National Organization supports BRICS and takes a clear stand on the One China Policy.
Kathmandu, 25 March 2025 – Addressing all the citizens of the nation at a press conference organized by the MNO Bagmati Provincial Assembly at Oasis Party Palace, Gokarneshwor-8, Gokarneshwor today, General Secretary of the organization Santosh Tamang said, “A platform of emerging economies like BRICS is working in the interest of developing countries. In the context of Nepal as well, it can open new doors of economic cooperation and prosperity. In addition, we fully respect the One China principle. China’s territorial integrity is unwavering and should not be violated under any circumstances.”
Mongol National Organization, the only alternative political party in Nepal, has expressed its unwavering commitment to the One China Policy, expressing open support for the BRICS group as a supporter of a multipolar world order. The organization has made public its clear view that Taiwan, Tibet, Xinjiang and Hong Kong are integral parts of China.
The organization has also been actively participating and supporting the expansion of Nepal-China relations, various infrastructure projects and cultural exchange programs. The organization's founding president, His Excellency Dr. Gopal Gurung, was present at various programs organized by the Nepali Embassy in China and the Chinese Embassy, and the evidence of the invitation from the Chinese Embassy is preserved at the Mongol Research Center located in Mechinagar-2, Jhapa.
According to political analysts, this statement by the Mongol National Organization is an indication of the growing geopolitical awareness among the indigenous Mongol community of Nepal. However, the Nepalese government has long ignored the real issues of the MNO and has been formally allowing only other bodies on its side to have such foreign policy views. Therefore, this non-governmental expression is expected to start some discussions at the policy level. On the other hand, the Chinese Embassy has not yet given a formal response on this issue. However, according to diplomatic sources in Nepal, Beijing is likely to take such support positively.
Nepal's constitution stipulates non-alignment, respect for the UN Charter, and an equidistance policy with two neighboring friendly countries in terms of foreign policy. In this context, the incident of any community or political organization openly supporting the policy of any one country has naturally become a subject of debate.
The Mongol National Organization, on the other hand, has said that this support is linked to the survival, economic, cultural, and geographical interests of its community. The Mongol National Organization has clearly stated that multipolar cooperation is necessary for the development of the indigenous Mongol communities of Nepal.
